Roadworks
Information about planned maintenance work to ensure the safety and resilience of the state highway network in the Bay of Plenty (BOP) region.
Maintaining your roads
More than $40 million will be spent on maintenance across more than 250 lane kilometres of state highway in the Bay of Plenty during the 2023/2024 maintenance season to ensure the safety and resilience of the state highway network.
Some of the region's significant work sites this season includes resealing programmes on SH2 between Waihī and Ōmokoroa and on SH35 east of Ōpōtiki, as well as asphalt resurfacing within the Tauranga and Rotorua urban areas.
Given the volume of roadworks taking place this year, we acknowledge that at times there will be considerable disruption to travel across the region. Before leaving for your destination check the Journey Planner for the most up to date information on the state highway network.
You can also check our media page for weekly traffic bulletins detailing all known worksites across the Waikato/Bay of Plenty region. These are released each Friday.
