Social Tours

All KBS 2024 Social Tours are scheduled to take place on Thursday 30 May 2024. A description of each tour is available below.

Please make your selection before you register as you cannot complete your registration without indicating your tour preference (one of the below three tours or not joining a tour). Please also remember to indicate any dietary requirements before completing payment. Tickets for additional attendees can also be purchased at registration.

Note: All tours are scheduled to take place in the afternoon on Thursday 30 May 2024 and are subject to minimum numbers and weather conditions. If your tour is unable to proceed, you may be allocated to another tour.

Warrang Bridil Indigenous Cultural and Perth City Tour

Learn about our history direct from a local Nyoongar Elder. Walk with your Nyoongar guide on country by the shores of the spectacular Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) overlooking Perth city, Matagarup Bridge and the Perth Stadium precinct. On this 90-minute tour, KBS 2024 delegates will:

• participate in a traditional Nyoongar ceremony and view cultural tools and artefacts that paved the way for modern technology
• hear how the Nyoongar people lived in a functional community with value, purpose and leadership in nurtured environments
• learn about the importance of culture, language, values, relationships, responsibilities, a shared purpose, wisdom, knowledge and social structures, and
• see Nyoongar cultural influence in the development of Perth Stadium and Matagarup Bridge.

Following the Aboriginal Cultural Tour, KBS 2024 delegates will be taken through Perth city and have the opportunity to alight, weather permitting, at Kings Park to enjoy spectacular views of the city as the sun prepares to set.

Caversham Wildlife Park

Cuddle a koala and meet their kangaroo and wombat friends.

This is the tour for KBS 2024 delegates looking for an Australian wildlife experience. Delegates will be taken to Caversham Wildlife Park where they will have the opportunity to pat a wombat and meet many other ‘Aussie icons’, including having a photo with a koala.

Watch sheep shearing, crack a stock whip, milk a cow, bottle feed a lamb, meet a stockman on horseback, swing a ‘billy’ and watch sheep dogs mustering sheep.

Fremantle History Walking Tour

Learn about Fremantle’s transformation from the little known colonial port that it was in 1829 to the international city that it is today.

Born and raised in Fremantle, your tour guide Allen, has been researching and writing about Fremantle’s history for over 40 years. 'Big Al' is an award winning Fremantle historian who was involved in Fremantle public life during the America’s Cup, and many of the tales he tells are unique to this tour.

Note: The tour is walked along flat ground at a leisurely pace and takes approximately 2hrs 15mins and covers approximately two kms.
