The 2021 Census estimated that a quarter of those experiencing homelessness in Australia are aged between 12-24, with the highest rate of homelessness between the ages of 19-24. That’s around 28,200 young people without a safe, secure place to stay each night. Homelessness not only affects where you sleep, it affects hygiene, schooling, socialising and more. As a child this has serious consequences on your development and emotional and psychological well-being. At Homes for Homes our goal is to end homelessness through the creation of social and affordable housing. We have helped fund 21 projects that will provide housing for more than 350 people, including children experiencing homelessness and marginalisation. Every property registered with Homes for Homes brings us one step closer to a world where every child has a stable, secure home. Together, we can create a future where all children have a secure place to call home and an opportunity to thrive. #EveryHomeHelps

Thanks to the residents and staff of Home Southbank and Richmond for raising an incredible $11,000 for Homes for Homes from the Melbourne Marathon! The HOME team ran and walked to raise donations with Homes for Homes as their charity recipient. The team did such a fantastic job and we’re grateful for their support, dedication and commitment.

Such an exciting project to be part of. As a funder we are delighted to watch this come to life and can't wait to see first hand the positive impact this project will have on young mums in Shepperton.

Exciting steps on the Nest in Shepparton with contracts signed with appointed building partner, Modular Spaces, and a building permit soon to be issued. We expect very rapid progress in the coming months with in-factory construction underway on these innovative modular homes designed by Schored Projects. On site works will commence very soon in preparation for the modules to be delivered mid-year. This partnership between the Property Industry Foundation, Women’s Property Initiatives and The Bridge Youth Service (TBYS) will deliver three 2-bedroom homes where young mums (up to 25 years old) can live independently with their child or children for up to five years with ongoing support. The homes will be built on land owned by TBYS who will also provide the essential wraparound support for these families. As well as providing stability, support and safety, these homes will enable the establishment of a rental history to help with future access to the private rental market. The Property Industry Foundation, committed to alleviating youth homelessness, will fund a large part of the construction supported by The Danks Trust, ISPT, Mercy Foundation, Homes for Homes and The Flora and Frank Leith Trust. WPI has received generous funding for the project from The Felton Bequest, The Wood Foundation and the Jack and Ethel Goldin Foundation.

At the UDIA National Congress 2024, Chief Operating Officer Tracy Longo took part in a panel discussion on housing supply and the housing crisis in Australia with Housing Australia CEO Nathan Dal Bon and Mirvac CEO Campbell Hanan, moderated by Housing Australia Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Turi Condon. It was an insightful discussion highlighting the challenges and opportunities around creating a more resilient and robust housing system for future generations. Thank you to the UDIA National Congress, nbn® Australia and SIMPEL for providing us the opportunity to shine a light on the importance for the entire housing continuum to be adequately supplied so everyone has access to safe, affordable housing.

Thanks to our partners Piccolo for having Homes for Homes at their International Women’s Day event last week. The event featuring Dr. Zoë Condliffe, Phd, CEO and Founder of She's A Crowd was a wonderful opportunity to connect over ways to advocate for equality and inclusivity worldwide. Piccolo is one of many developers that have registered projects with Homes for Homes, and we thank them for their ongoing support and commitment.

We were so excited to be at the recent launch of YHomes in Canberra, a new project from YWCA Canberra that will provide safe and beautiful homes for women on the margins. This project was a recipient of Homes for Homes grant funding in 2021, and we are thrilled to see it come to life. Thank you to everyone who supports and participates in Homes for Homes to end homelessness and change lives one property at a time. #EveryHomeHelps
