Last Wednesday, St Albans Secondary College hosted its annual ANZAC Day Service, a meaningful tradition steeped in reverence and remembrance. It was a privilege to welcome two esteemed alumni, both actively serving in the Army Reserves. Cpl. Laurence Gatt '05 delivered an eloquent and poignant commemorative address, resonating deeply with the assembled community as he highlighted the importance of honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Meanwhile, the presence of Cpl. Ammar Hujdurovic '17 lent an aura of solemnity and respect to the proceedings. Standing resolutely and embodying the essence of duty and allegiance. Their presence added a sense of humility to our ceremony, and we are sincerely grateful for their participation.

Going back. Giving back
About us
Our college is establishing an alumni program. The program aims to bring our former students back into the school community in meaningful ways. Sharing pathway advice or study tips, sharing lived experiences, and challenges faced and overcome; these are some of the ways you can give back and get involved. Being part of an alumni community can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

Calling all alumni! CHASE are looking for university students who are looking to develop their professional communication and education skills to mentor our VCE-VM students. Email alumni@stalbanssc.vic.edu.au to express your interest or simply to find out more.
CHASE is a pioneering charity dedicated to empowering the youth of Victoria by fostering health education and community involvement. Their approach involves collaborating with schools and community groups in the most disadvantaged areas of Melbourne. They are currently operating a program here at St Albans Secondary College and are seeking volunteer mentors. We’re putting the call out to former SASC students who are currently studying to encourage you to get involved in this program and to give back to the school in a meaningful and impactful way. If you're eager to join a social movement dedicated to sparking change and empowering communities through education and engagement, CHASE is the ideal place for you! If you’re a strong communicator and find fulfillment in engaging with and educating young individuals, this role is tailored for you. Successful volunteers will be university or TAFE students who will serve as positive role models, collaborating with and empowering secondary school students enrolled in VCE-VM to cultivate healthier lifestyles for themselves and their local communities. This presents an outstanding opportunity for personal and professional development. Ready to make a difference? Email alumni@stalbanssc.vic.edu.au to express your interest. Monday February 5, former SASC graduate Jamal Baba ‘21 along with friend of SASC, Donald La, presented a study skills session to our VCE students as part of the Year 12 Study Camp. The pair emphasised the importance of learning how to study and introduced the students to various methods of learning and studying such as creating Mind Maps and utilising the Method of Loci. The latter was demonstrated via an interactive game that proved both fun and memorable for the students. They also covered the ethical use of AI, a particular area of expertise for Donald. We send out a huge THANK YOU to Jamal and Donald for their time and effort, and for having such a positive and unforgettable impact on our students.

Well, it sure has been a hot minute since we said farewell at the end of last year, and we already have a couple of thank yous to dish out; however, this post is less about praising people for what they do and more about thanking them for who they are. Last year we opened our school and our hearts to our alumni community and invited you back simply to reconnect and say thank you for being you. Due to the success of the event that left us awash with pride and good feels, I am pleased to announce that we are doing it all over again! Yes, you read that right, we are once again inviting you, our dearest, wonderful, most admirable alumni community, to join us for a cuppa and cake (or cheese and fruit) Wednesday March 20, 9.30 - 11am. This is your chance to tour the school steeped in nostalgia and mingle with your favourite teachers to catch up on the years (or perhaps decades) that have gone by. Register your name, peer year, contact number, and dietary reqs at alumni@stalbanssc.vic.edu.au If you thought about it last year, register this year! We'd love to see you!
