RUGBY COACHES NEEDED! SPC Rugby needs passionate and experienced people to assist with the coaching of our teams for the upcoming 2024 rugby season. A willingness to acquire a Working with Childrens Check and to complete the ARU's Smart rugby course are the only qualifications required. The College covers the cost of both certifications. Teams train on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 - 5:30 and matches are played on a home and away basis against schools from the APS and the AGSV in Melbourne. All home and away matches are played on Saturday morning. This is a wonderful way for SPC Old Boys or parents to begin their rugby coaching career. Congratulations to SPC Legend and Emmy Award-winning natural history filmmaker David Parer (SPC 1962-64) who was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in this year’s Australia Day honours for “distinguished service to wildlife cinematography, to literature as an author, and to the environment”. An extremely worth recipient, David and his wife Liz have devoted their lives to filming wildlife in wonderful and remote locations, and his work has been shown on virtually every major network around the world, including David Attenborough, the BBC and National Geographic.
