Last month, we hosted a workshop in Perth with Mirning Traditional Lands Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (MTLAC) directors to learn from the Mirning people, who are Traditional Owners of the land which the Western Green Energy Hub (WGEH) Project is being proposed. The WGEH is a 15,000km2 renewable hydrogen project proposed to reside within the 32,711km2 of WA Mirning country in the Goldfields-Esperance region, from Caiguna to Eucla. This meeting was preceded by an On-Country workshop which The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation's Energies Transition Strategies team held in Eucla last year, which was also attended by representatives of the Mirning People. These workshops help us build a framework to ensure Traditional Owners are empowered to engage with industry and negotiate outcomes with relation to large-scale renewable energy projects.
