The Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) has been proactively working with Western Power on behalf of its valued members on the significant challenges the development industry has been facing in the delivery of power infrastructure to facilitate #housingsupply. Over the last few months, the UDIA WA team and committee representatives have been working with the senior executive at Western Power on solutions to the challenges facing the organisation and subsequently the industry. I want to acknowledge the efforts and collaborative nature with which the team at Western Power have worked with UDIA. Our members are already seeing important improvements in responsiveness, resource allocation and focus to address the constraints of labour and material shortages impacting this and many other sectors. The Minister is equally aware of the constraints and challenges and has been providing his support to find prompt solutions. Some changes in process take time, however it is essential that industry remains solutions-focussed, as UDIA is and will continue to be. #power #infrastructure #urbandevelopment #residential #advocacyinaction Kim Macdonald

Western Power delays continue to be the biggest concern in the delivery of many of our projects. Whilst it is good to hear the UDIA is taking up constructive discussions on this issue, we are yet to see tangible improvements.

We are aware of apartment projects that are ready to settle but have to wait six months for power - in this current climate that is totally unacceptable
