Include a Charity is a campaign of Fundraising Institute Australia. We are a collaboration of over 100 charities in Australia. We cover a broad spectrum of causes and aspects of our community, from medical research, education, animal welfare, the environment, the arts and more. Our goal is to encourage more people to leave a gift in their Will, increasing the funds invested in the charitable sector and thereby increasing the positive impact these organisations have on our society. By working together, we can change charitable giving forever so that over time, gifts in Wills become the norm for many rather than just a few. Include a Charity acts on behalf of campaign supporters promoting charitable gifts in Wills to the Australian public. Have you ever had a donor confirm they are leaving a gift in their will, only for that gift to never materialise when they pass away? It's important for charities to understand where promised gifts in wills go, but equally for the GIW sector as a whole to understand the likelihood of "missing gifts" where an executor never notifies or pays a charitable beneficiary. After the success of our pilot project in Victoria last year looking at historical probate records, we're extending the research nationwide in 2024. We are beyond excited about this research. Especially after the Victorian pilot project unearthed a plethora of gifts that weren’t passed on to charities for a variety of reasons. Watch this space…
NEW RESEARCH PROJECT! After the success of the Bequests Promised vs Bequests Realised pilot project to uncover missing gifts and provide charities with data on why some promised bequests never materialise, we are taking the research national in 2024. Thanks to the support of Philanthropy Australia and Include a Charity AUS this project is back and bigger than ever, and now we're looking for charity partners. One of the abiding comments in recent times has been the unconditional willingness of the charity sector to share ideas, skills, learnings and the need to build each other up, rather than ring fence our successes. It’s what the world needs now, love sweet love…Today’s Training Day Endless Love: Stewardship Tactics and Great Events served this up in triple helpings. People in the room and online shared, laughed, teared up and struggled over the tech together (keeping it real) and came away with newfound ways to connect to Gifts in Wills supporters. What more can one hope for in life.
