The Vice Chancellors' award

Selected by a panel of Australia's Vice-Chancellors, the winner will receive:

  • $3,500 in cash
  • Attendance at the 2022 UA Conference
    Return flights within Australia to Canberra, one night's accomodation, access to the 2022 Universities Australia Conference and a ticket to the Conference dinner in the Great Hall of Parliament House.
  • The Conversation internship
    Return flights within Australia and five nights accomodation to join The Conversation's Melbourne-based editorial team to: sit in on the Monday morning news conference; have lunch with the editorial team; shadow an editor for the round (topic) of your choice; training on how to pitch an idea, tie it to the news cycle, pick a story's image and write headlines; time with the multimedia team to learn about podcasts, infographics and other storytelling techniques.

The Universities Australia award

Selected by the Universities Australia team, the winner will receive:

  • $1,500 in cash
  • Attendance at the 2022 UA Conference
    Return flights within Australia to Canberra, one night's accomodation, access to the 2022 Universities Australia Conference and a ticket to the Conference dinner in the Great Hall of Parliament House.

People's Choice award

Selected through public voting, the winner will receive:

  • $1,000 in cash
  • Attendance at the 2022 UA Conference
    Return flights within Australia to Canberra, one night's accomodation, access to the 2022 Universities Australia Conference and a ticket to the Conference dinner in the Great Hall of Parliament House.

Please note that an entrant can win a maximum of one award. An entrant who, by score, ranks first place for more than one award will receive the largest award they are entitled to (in descending order: Vice Chancellors' award, Universities Australia award, People's Choice award), with the remaining awards presented to their respective second place entrants.
