Asthma & Anaphylaxis
Get the confidence, knowledge and skills to recognise and manage asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies including the use of the asthma inhaler and the adrenaline auto-injector.
This course is suitable for those who have responsibility for adults or children in the workplace or community who are at risk of anaphylaxis and/or asthma.
This course teaches how to recognise and respond to asthma and anaphylaxis first aid emergencies as well as asthma and anaphylaxis management.
The course topics include signs, symptoms and triggers, asthma and anaphylaxis action plans, auto-injector administration inhaler and spacer administration.
This course is taught by St John trainers with over 100 years of combined experience and backgrounds in Nursing, Education and Leadership. They are ready to share their experience and passion with you that creates confidence to perform first aid should you ever need to.

This course covers the following:
- Asthma, Anaphylaxis and allergy overview
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis signs, symptoms and triggers
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis medications and devices
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis action plans
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis risk management planning for the workplace
- Hands-on-practice in using Asthma inhalers and spacers
- Hands-on-practice adrenaline auto-injector administration
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis first aid management
Statements of attainment
On successful completion of this course you will be issued a Certificate which is a statement of attainment in:
- 22556VIC - Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
- 22578VIC - Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
A successful outcome for this statement of attainment will be determined by a range of different assessment methods including a questionnaire, observation of simulated and practical activities etc.
