Surf Life Saving NSW (SLSNSW) is proud to confirm that Australian sports technology company, LiveHeats will be the official competition management and live-scoring platform for the organisation at all Surf Sports events ahead of the 2022-23 season and beyond.

In what will begin as a three-year partnership, the groundbreaking technology utilises near-field-communication (NFC) wearable technology that allows officials to use LiveHeats software on smartphones to scan athletes during marshalling and recording, streamlining the on-beach processes for creating draws, completing races, and presenting instant live results and point scores.

LiveHeats will support the roll out, including education and training as well as developing tooling for a seamless data flow from SLSNSW’s existing systems into LiveHeats, streamlining on-the-beach workflows for officials, athletes, team managers and spectators.

The technology will be available at all levels of surf sports, from club competitions to state champs and Aussies, where LiveHeats was trialled earlier this year.

“LiveHeats is an exciting new addition to our surf sports arenas,” Illawarra Branch Director of Surf Sport, Melissa Gorgijovski said.

“We introduced it at our Sydney Water Surf Series, and it was extremely well received by both competitors and parents.

“Our U9s were excited and enthusiastic putting their arms out to be scanned as soon as they came into marshalling or crossed the line.

“The features of LiveHeats are fantastic – parents and friends are able to see live results on their phones whether they are watching on the beach, in another area or at home.

“I’m looking forward to using LiveHeats at all our carnivals this season.”

SLSNSW Surf Sports Manager, Jim Pinnington said the introduction of LiveHeats across NSW will be a game changer.

“LiveHeats is efficient and will allow us to streamline and automate the marshalling and recording process, reducing the strain on our officials,” he said.

“Being able to have results available as they happen, in real time, it’s going to change Surf Sports in NSW and we’re really happy to have found a platform that supports what we do.”
