Given that we have limited ability to increase sonographer capacity I have started to look at ultrasound referrals to see if there were changes we could make here.Successful strategies adopted by other regions in response to a similar concern over resourcing have included;please indicate which options you feel may support our region best GP triage step using health pathways guidelines as a reference and act as a point of contact and feedback. This has shown to reduce wait list over time and improve referral quality. Education around ultrasound indications/limitations and relevant existing and new health pathway reports comparing referral patterns to peers/other practices are provided to allow self-reflection.
