Cyber Security fundamentals
ECU's School of Science is proud to offer this workshop for high school-aged students/teachers interested in learning more about computing and security. Join us for the day and learn about how you can be cyber secure, understand networks, the cyber defence cycle, simple hacks, and capturing flags. We will use free open-source resources and cyber tools.

What the day looks like
9:00 - Registrations, logging onto computers - types of cyberattacks, cybercriminals, threat maps, Introduction to Cyber tools - Cyber Chef, Cryptii,
9:30 - Computer networks, windows machines, IT
10:00 - Exploitation Basics -
10:30 - break
11:00 - Linux, Ubuntu,
12:00 - Cyber tools- pen testing - VM's (Nmap, Metasploit, hashcal etc), Kali Linux
1:00 - lunch
1:30 - Pico CTF, PECAN+CTF Practice Challenges, Over The Wire - Bandit
3:00 - hometime
Session times: - 9:00 to 3:00pm
Location: ECU Joondalup campus - School of Science Building 18. We will be working out of the computer labs located on Level 1. Registrations will also be on the first floor
Cost: $18.50
BYO Morning tea and lunch - At this stage please bring along your own food (lunch and morning tea) and water bottles. We can pop some food in the fridge if need be. We have water filling stations on level 1.
Parking and drop off: Please park at the visitor car park 14, where you can park and come in to drop off your child/children. The entrance is Deakin off Lakeside Drive. See Google Maps for directions.
On the day: We will be taking photos during the day so please ensure you tick or cross the photo permission box on the registration form. Parents and/or guardians are invited to come and view what we have created from 2:45 pm onwards.
