Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety

An entry level pathway through the School Based Traineeship Program in 2025-26.

About us

We are incredibly varied so you can learn a lot by being a trainee with us. We help our community by:

  • providing advice to ensure enough electricity is being supplied to the grid to keep your lights on at home
  • helping to develop our state’s mining and resources industries, so we can have a strong economy and jobs for Western Australians
  • playing a big role in making sure workers are physically and mentally safe at work
  • working to ensure Western Australians get what they pay for and help if something goes wrong such as scams
  • helping to ensure workers understand their rights and are paid correctly under employment laws.

Whether we’re working to deliver on WA’s objective of net zero emissions by 2050, licensing trade workers like plumbers and electricians, keeping workplaces safe, or supporting business innovation, our days are never boring!
