Dual Trade Apprentice Diesel Technician & Auto Electrician

Machine Electrification is the future. By taking on our Dual Trade opportunity, you will be investing in your future.

You will learn from some of the best in the industry, receiving first class training in the diagnosis, servicing, and maintenance of a massive range of Caterpillar equipment, engines and components. At the end of the 5 year apprenticeship you will walk away with the following two qualifications:

AUR31216 – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology

AUR30316 – Cert III in Automotive Electrical Technology

Apprentice Boilermaker/Fabricator

MEM30305 – Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade

Become an Apprentice Boilermaker with us and you will be signing up to a 4 year apprenticeship, where you will receive first class training in heavy fabrication and welding, working on a massive range of Cat equipment and components.

Apprentice Machinist

MEM30219 – Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade

Become an Apprentice Machinist with us and you will be signing up to a 4 year apprenticeship, where you will receive first class training in machining, using a broad range of CNC and other types of machinery to recondition a range of parts for our heavy equipment.

 

As a William Adams Apprentice, you will join over 300 Technicians that are passionate about what they do and are leaders in their field.

You will receive:

• A nationally accredited training qualification, paid for by William Adams Cat
• A subsidised toolkit worth over $6,000
• A full uniform, including personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Above award wages and opportunities to earn more with overtime
• A Caterpillar training passport enabling you to work at Cat dealerships all over the world
• Discounted Cat hand tools, clothing and merch

Where it can take you: 

• Our apprentice rotation program allows you the opportunity to travel and work in our branches within Victoria and Tasmania
• You could compete in our Apprentice of the Year competition and represent William Adams in the Cat Dealer Top Apprentice Program
• Upon completion of your apprenticeship, we offer great scope for promotion and advancement within the company. Many of our Leaders began their careers as trade apprentices with William Adams, including our Executive Chairman, Dale Elphinstone. You could follow many varied career paths, including some of the following:
  Field Service Trades Person
  Service Supervisor
  Sales or Product Support Representative
  Technical Trainer
  Branch Manager

To be a William Adams Apprentice, you will have a thirst for learning, enjoy problem solving, show initiative and have a great attitude. You must have completed a minimum of year 10, with sound results in Maths, English and Science, or Technology. We look for candidates who are committed to a successful career with William Adams, and have an interest and genuine passion for all things mechanical/electrical. And of course you must love Cat gear, like us!

Here are some things you can do to prepare; Do plenty of research on our business and the Caterpillar machinery, get some exposure to anything mechanical and prepare your resume and cover letter. You want to stand out from the crowd. If you are a school student, arrange to complete some work experience at your closest William Adams branch. Ensure you keep focusing on school and achieving good results for now, as we will want to see your school reports when you apply.
