Payment
New Zealand Superannuation is paid fortnightly on a Tuesday.
In general, payment must be made directly to the client. However, when there is good cause, the client's New Zealand Superannuation can be paid to another person, agent or institution.

It is a condition of receiving New Zealand Superannuation that the client provides:
Rate of payment
The rate of New Zealand Superannuation depends on if the client is:
- single, living alone
- single, living in shared accommodation
- married, in a civil union or de facto relationship, and their partner can receive New Zealand Superannuation in their own right
- married, in a civil union or de facto relationship, and they have a grandparented non-qualified partner included in their payment or
- married, in a civil union or de facto relationship, and they have a non-qualifying partner who is not included in their payment
- eligible to receive or receiving an overseas benefit or pension
