Congress is VicSRC's flagship student-led experience which brings together secondary students from across Victoria to unpack ideas and solve issues in the education system. The top ideas, as voted by students, become the focus of VicSRC's advocacy for the next 12 months, spearheaded by the VicSRC Student Executive Advisory Committee.

Congress 2023 took place on Friday 8 September at Wurun Senior Campus.

VicSRC's 2023 Congress Report

For several years, Congress has revealed that Victorian students are particularly focused on a few key areas of their education experience which, according to them, are critical to improving outcomes and the quality of their experiences at school.

Through those discussions, we heard from from students about how their experiences in these key areas can inform further progress, thus building on the encouraging program of education reforms currently underway in Victoria which seek to address many of these key issues.

This report demonstrates that students are equipped to deliver meaningful and insightful advice about their own experiences with education, and that more must be done not only to enact these systemic reforms to improve outcomes for students, but to strengthen student voice practices throughout the education system to form an integral part of ongoing policymaking in Victoria.
